Naomichi Ueda (植田 直通, Ueda Naomichi, born October 24, 1994) is a Japanese football player. He plays for the Japan national team.
Biography
[change | change source]Ueda was born in Uto on October 24, 1994. After graduating from Ozu High School, he joined J1 League club Kashima Antlers in 2013. He played many matches as center back from 2014. In 2016, Kashima won the champions in J1 League and qualified for 2016 Club World Cup as host country champions. At the Club World Cup, he played all 4 matches and won the 2nd place. In July 2018, he moved to Belgian First Division A club Cercle Brugge. In January 2021, he moved to French Ligue 1 club Nîmes Olympique.
In June 2011, Ueda was selected the Japan U-17 national team for 2011 U-17 World Cup and he played all 5 matches and scored 1 goal. In 2016, he played for the Japan U-23 national team at 2016 AFC U-23 Championship. Japan won the champions and qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. At 2016 Summer Olympics, he played all 3 matches as center back with Tsukasa Shiotani. In November 2017, he was selected the Japan national team for 2017 E-1 Football Championship. At this tournament, he debuted against China on December 12. In 2018, he was selected Japan for 2018 World Cup, but he did not play in the match. In 2019, he also participated 2019 Copa América and played all 3 matches.
